Why this matters

Over the past few months, the Board has been working with legal counsel to update our bylaws so they can better support VYSO as we grow and look ahead to the future.

These updates are about:

  • Making sure the organization is well-run and sustainable long-term
  • Strengthening the Board so it can better support the artistic and educational experience for students
  • Bringing our governance in line with current best practices

Ultimately, this is about putting VYSO in the strongest possible position to continue offering a high-quality experience for your children, now and in the years to come.

What’s changing

Some of the key updates include:

  • A more focused and skills-based Board structure
  • Clearer term limits for Directors
  • Stronger committee structure (including HR and Nominating)
  • Better clarity between Board oversight and day-to-day operations
