About us – Why we do what we do
Founded in 1930, The Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra (VYSO) is British Columbia’s premier orchestra training program for young musicians ranging from ages 8 to 22 years old, inspiring young musicians through world-class training and performance opportunities. As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to nurturing the musical growth of youth in a supportive yet challenging environment, empowering them to reach their full potential both on and off the stage.

Concerts
Each year, the VYSO presents several concerts throughout the year at several different venues. From collaborations with the VSO to our annual Concerto Competition Showcase concert to our December concert, please see our concert schedule to see what our next exciting event is:

Auditions
Every position in the VYSO is auditioned. Each year around May, the VYSO puts out a call for auditions for its following year. Auditions differ between the level of orchestra, but generally consist of scales, excerpts, and a chosen solo piece. Click here to view our audition information:
